Gombe Stream National Park, located on the western border of Tanzania and Congo on the wild shores of Lake Tanganyika is an untamed place of lush forests and Lake Tanganyika unspoilt beaches. In addition to the star activity, chimpanzee tracking, hiking in the forest and swimming on the lake are popular activities here. Gombe owes much of his fame to Jane Goodall, the resident primatologist who spent many years in its forests studying the behaviour of the endangered chimpanzees. Besides chimpanzee, many other species of primates live here, like Vervet, Colobus monkeys and Baboons, in addition to a wide variety of birdlife, like the majestic african fish eagle.
After breakfast, Let’s explore the forest in search of chimpanzees! Into the forest we will recreate ourselves with the sounds of the primates and the songs of the birds, while we follow their trail. Then we will climb up to Kakombe Waterfalls and enjoy the great panoramic view of the park.
Enjoy your last day on the park visiting Jane Goodall’s house and swimming or relaxing in Lake Tanganyika. Then we will travel by boat and vehicle to Kigoma.
