Tour Details

The Serengeti ecosystem is a geographical region in Africa, spanning northern Tanzania. The protected area within the region includes approximately 30,000 km² of land, including the Serengeti National Park and several game reserves. The Serengeti Plains are a grass savanna that has very dry but nutrient-rich volcanic sand. Around 2 million large plant-eating mammals live in the savanna. Serengeti National Park is a national park and wildlife refuge on the Serengeti Plain in north-central Tanzania. It is partly adjacent to the Kenya border and is northwest of the adjoining Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Itinerary

Day 1WELCOME FROM AIRPORT TO ARUSHA

Our guide will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to Arusha. Safari briefing and relax for your safari starting tomorrow.

Day 2LAKE MANYARA PARK

We will drive to lake manyara for mid morning to sunset game drives. Lake Manyara is a small beautiful national park famous for the legendary tree climbing lions and many other large and small mammals. Driving through the lush garden is a gentle reminder that you are now in Africa. Exotic birdcalls fill the air. Lunch can be served at the numerous picnic sites in the park or if you wish you may go for hot lunch at the lodge before returning for game drives in the afternoon. Zebras, Wildebeests, Bushbucks, Dik-diks and Guinea fowls regularly cross your path for your delight. We’ll meander along bush tracks and explore the Lake which is home of thousand of Flamingos. More game drive at sunset before heading to accommodation.

Day 3LAKE NATRON

This peculiar soda lake located at the base of the active Ol Donyo Lengai volcano is the world most important breeding site for Lesser Flamingos. In this unique landscape you will have the opportunity to choose between a wide range of eco activities. A recommended option is trekking to Engaresero waterfalls and then an authentic Maasai evening BBQ. A goat/sheep is slaughtered traditionally by a group of Maasai warriors and while meat is barbecued warriors will perform a 40-60mins traditional dance and you are invited to join them. After the dance, your dinner will be served.

Day 4 & 5NORTHERN SERENGETI

We will spend two full days at Serengeti Northern grass plains to witness the greatest wildlife spectacle. The ground shakes during Great Migration. By May endless columns of wildebeest keep moving northward through Serengeti. During June herds congregate in the western corridor ready to crossing Grumeti river infested with huge crocodiles. On July and August, the wildebeest spreads out Grumeti and Ikorongo Reserves and northern Seronera. Herds face its most serious obstacle, Mara River. This event represents the climax of unbridled action in its fight for survival. Around October herds start its way back to Serengeti heading south through western Loliondo and the Serengeti National Park´s Lobo Area.

Day 6CENTRAL SERENGETI

Let´s drive down to seronera area to watch a wide range of wildlife. Lions, cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, elephants, amount others. Serengeti, which means endless plain in Maasai language, has the highest concentration of large predators in the world.

Day 7SERENGETI - MAASAI OR OLDUVAI GORGE - NGORONGORO

Serengeti sunrise game drive from 06:30am till 12:00pm. Then, lunch before we depart for the Ngorongoro Crater. On the way, you can choose your visit. Olduvai Gorge, cradle of mankind where paleontologists and anthropologists have found hundreds of fossilized bones and stone tools dating back millions of years or Maasai Boma. If you choose Maasai Boma, we really recommend spend as much time as possible with them to have a authentic experience.

Day 8NGORONGORO CRATER - ARUSHA

Rise early for breakfast before we spend a fully day exploring the crater floor. This volcanic crater is one of the largest caldera in the world. Ngorongoro is said to have the highest density of wildlife in Africa, so you can admire many animal species together. That’s the reason why it’s one of the only places on earth where you may see all of the Big Five at once: Lion, Leopard, Elephant, African Buffalo and Black Rhino. To maximize your time on the crater floor we will enjoy a special boxed lunch at a scenic picnic spot. In the afternoon we will drive to Arusha.
