It was here, that the anthropologists Drs. Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’, both very significant links in the chain of human evolution. We will arrive in time for lunch at the lodge and after lunch we will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife for a half day safari tour. This volcanic crater is one of the largest caldera in the world and is said to have the highest density of wildlife in Africa, so you can admire many animal species together. That’s the reason why it’s one of the only places on earth where you may see all of the Big Five at once: Lion, Leopard, Elephant, African Buffalo and Black Rhino.
Rise early for breakfast before we spend a fully day exploring the crater floor. Thanks to its year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park harbors a vast variety of animals, which include herds of Wildebeests, Zebras, Buffalos, Elands, Warthogs, Hippos, and Giant African Elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which include Lions, Hyenas, Jackals, Cheetahs and the ever-elusive Leopards, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. To maximize your time on the crater floor you will enjoy a special lunch box at a scenic picnic spot. In the afternoon we will drive to Arusha for dinner and overnight.
